Official Statement from Ministry of Tourism Regarding Lombok Earthquake, West Nusa Tenggara Barat, August 19th 2018

Jakarta, 19th August 2018 - A two strong aftershock earthquake struck North Lombok in North Nusa Tenggara, today 19th August 2018 at 12.06 local time. BMKG reported first earthquake with a strength of 5.4 magnitude occurred a depth of 6 km at 25 km northeast of East Lombok at 12.06 local time. Then 5 minutes later the second earthquake with a strength of 6.5 SR struck at 32 km northeast ot East Lombok and a depth of 10 km. The shock was also felt in Bali and some part near Lombok. The earthquakes did not have the potential to cause of tsunami.

We encourage people to keeping lookout for field to find a secure location and did not towards into the hills and mountains, because the condition of plates and land structure are brittle.

We also encourage tourists to stay calm and alert. Follow government instruction, and keep updated only from official sources such as @infoBMKG and @BNPB_Indonesia. The Tourists can also download and install ‘info bmkg’ application on their mobile phone to get an updates any time.
